Where to Find Wally West

Recently I was asked by a friend who the best flash is. What she meant by this was who was better, Barry Allen, Bart Allen, Jay Garrick, or Wally West. Now, this is just my opinion and I’m sure many others feel differently, but my favorite flash is by far Wally West. I’m not just choosing him because of his costume design or his discovery of the speed force, but the relationships he makes with other characters. Wally West just has a certain charm to his characteristics that make him lovable. Of course, when hearing my opinion on the matter, my friend immediately wanted to start reading and watching anything with this character. And so, here I’ll make a list for both her and any onlooking readers.

The most obvious way to see Wally West is to read his comics. It’s a curse and a blessing that there are many comic series that he’s a part of. The curse is the issue of finding the time and patience to read them all, and the blessing is the ability to have all the Wally West you could ever want. Yet if you want the best and most recent of him then you have to be careful what you read because he can be portrayed differently depending on when the comic was made or what the series is. My two main recommendations are:

DC Universe Rebirth #1

Rebirth is a whole new beginning for anyone who’d want to join or re-join the DC universe. And the first issue of the DC Universe Rebirth is the perfect way to jump into the new world of Wally West. It re-introduces the character and all the people he cares deeply for. You can also bet it will cause you to tear up even if yet have to learn exactly who the flash is.

Teen Titans Rebirth

As I said before, these comics are being made right now.  And what better place to start than Wally West’s domain, the Teen Titans. This is the group that he grew to love and the group that made Wally who he is. No spoilers, but you see the love he has for this team and his importance in it in the first issue of this series.

Besides comics, there are many other medias in which you can see Wally West. One of these outlets is live action television series. My recommendation under this category of media is:

The Flash

This is an adored ongoing tv series that focuses on the original flash, Barry Allen. In this show, however, we meet many other flashes whether they’re Jay Garrick, Wally West, or the alternate dimensional version of these characters. By the second season, you’re introduced to Wally West as Kid Flash.

The final and best way to see Kid Flash is through animated series. If there is one thing that DC does well it’s its animated series. My following recommendations are:

Justice League

In this show, you get to see Wally West as the flash and a founder of the justice league. Although I have yet to watch the majority of this show, what I have seen is very good.

Young Justice

This is where I originally fell in love with Wally West as Kid Flash and it is here where I love his character the most. If you want to ease into the world of Wally West then this is what I recommend. And although there are only 2 seasons, the third season is soon to come out!

Now as I said earlier there are many other places where you can find Wally West, and this list is only skimming the top of it. Below I’ll attach links to other sites with more media including this beloved character.
